Editorial standards

Our purpose

BooksAvenue helps readers choose books, understand reading services and make better buying decisions. Advice should explain both why an option might suit you and when another choice—or keeping what you have—makes more sense.

Research and experience

We distinguish research-based guides from hands-on reviews. Research may use manufacturer documentation, library guidance, publisher descriptions and retailer listings. We do not describe a product as personally tested, or a book as personally read, unless that experience is documented.

Sources and dates

Important factual claims should point to their source. Time-sensitive comparisons should identify the date checked, country, currency and exact edition or product variant. A review date means that the relevant information was checked, rather than simply changing the date displayed on an old article.

Images and assistance

Manufacturer and retailer images should be used only where permission or applicable programme terms allow. Illustrations should be identified as illustrations, especially where a reader might mistake them for a tested product or a screenshot. AI-assisted material requires editorial checking of facts, sources and recommendations before publication.

Affiliate relationships

Some shopping links may earn BooksAvenue a commission at no extra cost to the reader. We identify the retailer and relevant country, distinguish a search link from an exact product listing, and explain any important limitations. We may recommend borrowing, a free source or a non-affiliate option when it better fits the reader’s needs.

Corrections

Spotted an outdated step, an incorrect specification or a broken link? Email BooksAvenue@yahoo.com.sg with the article address and the relevant detail. Significant corrections should be recorded on the affected page.

Authorship

Pages should identify BooksAvenue as the editorial publisher. An individual author’s name, biography or hands-on claim should be added only with their approval and supporting information.
